the lusitano horse

The Iberian Horse is one of the oldest pure breeds of horse in the world. Like their cousin the Spanish Andalusian, the Portuguese Lusitano reflects centuries of careful breeding and contribution to the equine history throughout Europe.

In 1982, Cedar Mills became the home of two Lusitano stallions imported from Portugal. Manjerico, a bay, and Negrito, a black, were followed soon afterwards by nine broodmares to form the primary foundation stock for the Lusitano breed in Canada.

The physical attributes of this breed contribute to its outstanding capabilities for Classical Dressage.
